Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Sugarcreek Township, OH

Ask Your Dayton Dentist

Our goal at Advanced Dentistry of Dayton is to not only provide hands-on treatments, but also inform our patients so they can make confident care decisions and know the best ways to look after their smiles between appointments. So, below, we have answered some of the most popular questions we receive every day. Read over this page, and if you want to ask about anything we haven’t covered here, you’re always welcome to give us a call.

How often should I visit the dentist?

Generally, a person (no matter their age) should visit the dentist at least twice a year for a checkup and cleaning. Outside of that, it’s always wise to schedule an appointment if you notice any unpleasant oral symptoms, such as pain, discoloration, sensitivity, or visible damage.

Which is better: an electric or manual toothbrush?

Both types of toothbrushes are great for removing daily plaque and food particle buildup that can lead to cavities. The most important thing is that you brush twice a day for at least two minutes each. But, in general, electric toothbrushes tend to be better at cleaning the teeth since the bristles are able to move much faster, and they can be especially helpful for young children and those with mobility issues.

Is Invisalign just as effective as metal braces?

When it comes to fixing minor misalignments for teens and adults, Invisalign is just as effective as metal braces. It can help correct crooked, crowded, and gapped teeth alike. For young children, severe misalignments, or malocclusions (crooked bites), however, metal braces are usually a better option. If you or your child require braces, Dr. Mularczyk can refer you to a trusted orthodontist he has partnered with for several years.

What is the best way to replace missing teeth?

The answer to this question will differ from patient to patient, but in most cases, Dr. Mularczyk would highly recommend dental implants to anyone looking to fill the gaps in their smile. Compared to other replacements, implants are simply the strongest, most durable, and most natural-looking by far. In fact, they also tend to cost less over time compared to traditional bridges and dentures because they don’t need to be replaced as often (if ever).

Will you take my dental insurance?

Advanced Dentistry of Dayton is proud to be a dental insurance-friendly dental office, and we accept and are in-network with many popular PPO plans. To learn how we could use your insurance to help you save at your next visit, just give us a call, and we’ll verify your benefits and give you a rough estimate of your out-of-pocket costs.

I don’t have dental insurance. Is there another way I can save on my care?

Yes! You can sign up for our in-house savings plan, which costs less than traditional insurance, but offers many of the same benefits. You can learn more about it here, or you can always give our team a call.
